Why Vintage Seiko Watches Are So Sought After
Share
There's something about vintage Seiko watches that modern designs struggle to replicate. Perhaps it's the delicate proportions, the intricate bracelets, or the unusual case shapes that you rarely come across anymore. Whatever it is, these decades-old designs are finding a new generation of admirers. And it's easy to understand why.

An Era of Watchmaking We Rarely See Today
Throughout the 1970s, 80s and 90s, Seiko produced an incredible variety of women's watches. From dainty gold timepieces and elegant rectangular cases to futuristic dials and jewellery-inspired bracelets, the creativity was almost endless.
One particularly memorable design was the Seiko Half Moon, with its distinctive curved case and elegant proportions. A perfect example of the creativity that defined this era.
What makes these watches so interesting is the attention given to the smallest details. A subtly textured bracelet. An unusual dial finish. A case that flows seamlessly into its links. Details that might seem insignificant, but make all the difference.

It's this distinctive design language that inspired us to create our very own Ekiztas Half Moon Watch, reimagining a vintage favourite with modern materials and craftsmanship, while preserving the character of the original.

Small Watches, Big Personality
Not every watch needs to make a statement through its size.
Some of the most interesting vintage Seiko's feature cases measuring just 14–20mm, yet their designs have more personality than watches twice their size.
Many were created to be worn almost like jewellery, combining elegant proportions with beautifully constructed bracelets. And unlike many modern watches, these pieces often feel equally at home alongside everyday outfits or more formal jewellery. It's a kind of understated elegance that never really goes out of style.
The Beauty of Finding Something Different
Perhaps the most exciting part of collecting vintage watches is never knowing what you'll discover next.
Seiko's historical catalogues contain countless designs, many of which are no longer produced. Some are relatively easy to find. Others appear far less frequently, particularly in beautiful original condition. That individuality is part of their appeal.
Rather than wearing something you'll see on countless other wrists, you have the opportunity to own a genuine piece of design history. And sometimes, finding that one particular watch again isn't quite so easy.
