A handful of small vintage Seiko ladies' watches on gold and two-tone bracelets

Small Watches Are Having a Moment Again – and Vintage Did It First

For a long time, watches only got bigger. Sports watches, oversized dials, then a smartwatch on nearly every wrist. Somewhere along the way, the small, delicate watch got put away in a drawer.

It's coming back out. Fashion writers have spent this year calling tiny watches one of the accessory trends of 2026, and the look they describe will be very familiar to anyone who has owned a vintage ladies' watch.

Why small watches are back

Part of it is a move towards quieter dressing. A small watch doesn't announce itself. It finishes an outfit the way a good pair of earrings does, and it works as well with a white T-shirt as it does with something for the evening.

Part of it is nostalgia. The tiny dials everyone wants now come straight from the 80s and 90s, the same decades shaping so much of what people wear at the moment.

The originals are vintage

That's why we think vintage is the best way to wear the trend. In the 80s and 90s, Seiko, Citizen and Gucci made ladies' watches designed to be worn like jewellery: small cases, bracelets that flow straight from the dial, and details you only notice up close.

Buying one means wearing the real thing rather than a modern take on it. It also means owning something nobody else has, for a fraction of the price of a new luxury watch, and giving a well-made piece a second life. If you'd like to know why collectors love them, read why vintage Seiko watches are so sought after.

How to wear a small watch

Stacking is the easiest place to start. Because the dial is small, it sits alongside bangles, a chain bracelet or a tennis bracelet without fighting them. A gold watch with a white tee and jeans looks instantly more put together, and a tiny watch slips under a shirt cuff for work. Bangle and bracelet watches can be your jewellery for the day on their own, and two-tone vintage pieces are made for anyone who likes wearing gold and silver together.

Small vintage watches worth looking for

Gem-set bracelets give a tiny dial just enough sparkle. The Gucci 1500L is a slim rectangle around 13mm across on a rigid bangle. Mother of pearl dials are soft enough for every day. And if you like an unusual shape, look for the curved Half Moon, the watch that inspired our own.

Buying a small vintage watch

On a watch this size, the bracelet length matters more than the dial, so compare it with a bracelet you already wear. Look closely at the photos too. On a small dial, wear and repairs are easy to miss.

Every watch we list is hand-picked, tested and photographed in natural light, with any wear noted. Small on the wrist, and every one of them different.
